Our Deepest Fear is not that We are Inadequate, but that we are Powerful Beyond Measure.

Dear Readers,

I have been taking two online classes this summer, one of which is English.  An assignment was to write about a subject that you hold dear to your heart.

Hidden by fear, is greatness, which has been present in every human since the beginning of time.  For the vast majority, people are too afraid of failure, too afraid to obtain and reach for greatness.  Too afraid that they will stand out of the crowd and take on an unknown face.  Some fear their best will not reach the satisfaction of others, so trying would seem pointless if their actions resulted in failure.  They do not want to rise above because they fear what they are capable of and how they will feel when they do not fit in with the common man.  They do not want to minimize the feelings of their “competition”  when they themselves shine in the light, gloriously.  But in reality, there is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people do not feel insecure around you.  We were all meant to shine as children, and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same as we are liberated from our own fear.  Its is our light not our darkness that most frightens us, and playing small does not serve the world.  So I challenge you, I implore you, to rise above the common man.  I challenge you to take action with what you believe in a manner that bespeaks the determination with which you believe it. Because “almost everything–all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure–these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important.”
